ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Oversee/manage the day-to-day newsgathering operation and digital media content initiatives. Manage daily news coverage for television, digital and social platforms. Motivate and coach news team to create dynamic stories and memorable television. Respond quickly to breaking news with coverage on all platforms. Ensure accuracy of news broadcasts and digital/social content. Review reporter scripts. Provide regular feedback for news team members. Support VP/News on hiring and employee relations issues as well as annual performance appraisal process. Prepare schedules and handle vacation requests. Identify social media opportunities to increase digital and social metrics. Ensure effective communication with digital producers. Demonstrate strong editorial judgment. Manage big event coverage and specials/enterprise stories. Adhere to all professional broadcast journalism and online journalism standards concerning legal and ethical issues. Work with management team to ensure accountability and efficiency among those they supervise. Work with station attorney on legal matters. Work with staff to reinforce station brands. Serve as a liaison with other departments in station projects and marketing campaigns. Comply with all station and department policies, procedures and guidelines. Qualifications: Previous broadcast news management experience. Education: College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or communications. PRODUCER (2 positions) (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Looking for strong, creative, take-charge producer who has a vision for the newscast and knows how to turn a plan into remarkable television. Candidates must be aggressive, decisive and creative. We are looking for someone with stellar news judgement who owns big stories and wins breaking news coverage. The successful candidate must think big and communicate effectively with everyone on the team. The candidate must also be assertive yet calm under pressure. Qualifications: Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are necessary. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, ENG & SNG remotes is desirable. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a television news department producing newscasts. SENIOR ASSIGNMENT EDITOR (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Fox 35 is looking for an aggressive, organized and self-motivated candidate to lead a team of assignment editors. You must have a take charge attitude and take the lead on breaking news. The successful candidate needs to be cool, calm and decisive under pressure and understand how to move crews at a moment’s notice. We are looking for a leader who knows how to plan for big events and effectively communicate those plans to other team members. We want a leader who finds and gathers distinctive enterprise stories that set us apart from the competition. This candidate must have an instinct for finding memorable content and understand what it takes to turn it into great TV or digital stories. Must be a strong communicator. Must also write, publish and post on station’s website, mobile apps and social media pages. A minimum of 3 years television news assignment desk experience. College or technical degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or communications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented. ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Seeking a highly motivated Account Executive to join our dynamic team. This is a multi-platform sales opportunity responsible for increasing share on transactional sales. Develop relationships with existing TV advertisers and their agencies. Produce and present effective sales solutions to existing and developed accounts. College degree and a minimum of two years’ sales experience preferred. Candidate should possess top communication skills and be service-oriented. Experience with new business development preferred. PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Working knowledge of AM, PM News and other show formats Receive and implement directives from Director over headset. Communicate clearly and coherently in person and on headset. Anticipate the needs of the director. Ensure talent and guests microphones have charged batteries, that microphones are on proper frequency, turned on properly and have corresponding IFB’s (when applicable). Conduct proper studio microphone and live-remote audio checks prior to air and inform director immediately if any source is not suitable for air. Ensure talent is on the set, miked and informed of the cues in use. Prior to air, verify that all studio equipment is working properly. Ensure all RTS panels are labeled correctly with proper studio or remote talent prior to live or taped broadcasts. Update music request playlists on a daily basis with music requested from executive producers. Know camera-blocking positions for newscasts. Ensure camera shots are in focus and framed according to camera directives from Director. Create creative bump shots along with standard formatted shots. Change batteries in microphones and IFB’s when necessary. Leave studio clean, orderly and safe at the end of the newscast or production taping. Be familiar with Sony ELC coding and show execution to fill in as needed. Make minor repairs to IFB’s, microphones, monitors and audio board as needed. Operate prompter when talent is unable to do so as assigned. Understand basics of lighting panel. Maintain audio booth, prop room, cameras and prompters. Interact effectively and professionally with talent, producers and crew. Ability to operate a broad range of production equipment. Qualifications: Experience in the master control and news production environment. College degree or two years equivalent experience in the broadcast industry. CLICK HERE TO APPLY
